Accessibility
Last updated October 4, 2026
CashBlack should work for everyone who wants to shop with it, whether you use a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, a magnifier or captions. This statement covers our websites, cashblack.co.uk and cashblack.com. It says what we aim for, what we have done, where we still fall short and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
Our Commitment
CashBlack exists to move spending power to Black-owned businesses, and that only works if everyone can take part. Accessibility is part of how we build every page, and we keep checking it as the site changes.
The Standard We Aim For
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
We are not there yet, so we describe the site as partially conformant. Our automated checks test against the WCAG 2.1 AA rules, which WCAG 2.2 builds on, and we have not yet audited the site against the criteria WCAG 2.2 added. The limitations below say where we know we fall short.
What We Have Done
- A skip to content link is the first thing you reach when you press Tab, so you can jump past the menu on our public pages, on the sign up and log in pages and inside your account.
- Every link, button and form field shows a clear outline when you reach it with a keyboard, with its color adjusted on our green bands and store banners so it stays visible there too.
- Text links are underlined, so you never have to rely on color alone to spot one.
- The color pairings in our design system are tested against the WCAG AA contrast thresholds on every change we make: 4.5 to 1 for text and 3 to 1 for focus outlines and other visual indicators.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and transitions are switched off and the scrolling brand row on our homepage stays still.
- Images that carry meaning have a text alternative, and purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Pages use real headings, landmarks and labeled menus, and each page declares that it is written in English, so a screen reader reads it with the right voice.
- The sign up and log in forms have a visible label on every field, and each error message is linked to the field it describes.
- We never block pinch zoom or browser zoom.
- The buttons on our cookie banner are at least 44 pixels tall, an easy target for a finger.
- Every embedded video player carries a title that names the video.
How We Test
- Automated accessibility checks (axe) run on every change against our main public pages, the sign up and log in forms, the site header and footer and the cookie banner. A change that fails them fails our build.
- Lighthouse audits run on key public pages and on signed in member pages, and we measure color contrast on the rendered pages as well as in the design system.
- Before launch we tested the site using only a keyboard and using the NVDA screen reader on Windows, across the public pages and store pages, and fixed every issue that testing found.
Known Limitations
These are the gaps we know about. We would rather tell you than have you find them.
- The maps on To Your Door and Brick And Mortar come from a third party map library and can be hard to use with a keyboard or a screen reader. Every place shown on the map is also listed in full beneath it, with its distance when you have set a location.
- Our videos are hosted on YouTube. Captions come from YouTube, and we have not yet checked that every video has accurate captions or a transcript.
- Signing up includes a security check from Cloudflare to stop bots. It is usually invisible, but it is a third party service we do not control, and it can occasionally ask you to do something. If it stops you, email us and we will help you join.
- We have not yet audited the site against the criteria WCAG 2.2 added, such as minimum target sizes beyond the cookie banner and accessible sign in.
- Our screen reader testing so far has used NVDA on Windows. We have not yet tested with VoiceOver, TalkBack or JAWS, and the longer member journeys (cashing out and adding tax details) have not had a full screen reader test.
- Our Lighthouse and rendered contrast checks report problems but do not yet block a change from shipping.
- This statement covers our websites only. The CashBlack mobile apps and the A.F.R.O.B.O.T extension are built separately and are not covered here.
Tell Us If Something Gets In Your Way
If any part of our websites is hard to use, or you need information from it in a different way, email support@cashblack.com. It helps us fix things faster if you tell us:
- the page address, or the page or feature you were using
- what you were trying to do and what happened
- your device, your browser and any assistive technology you use, such as a screen reader or a magnifier
- a screenshot, if you can take one
How We Respond
A real person reads every message. We aim to reply within a working day. If we cannot fix the problem straight away, we will tell you what we are doing about it and get you what you need another way in the meantime, for example by email.
Your Rights
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protects people with disabilities from discrimination by businesses that serve the public. We want our websites to be as usable for you as they are for anyone else, and we treat an accessibility barrier as a problem to fix.
If you contact us and are not happy with our response, you can file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division at civilrights.justice.gov.
Review Of This Statement
We prepared this statement on October 4, 2026. We review it at least once a year, and whenever we make a significant change to the site.
