In Memory of Richard Taylor OBE
This weekend, we honour the legacy of Richard Taylor OBE, the father of Damilola Taylor and the founder of the Damilola Taylor Trust who passed away yesterday at the age of 75.
His life was marked by tragedy but defined by resilience and a relentless pursuit of justice and positive change. In the wake of his son Damilola’s tragic death in 2000, Richard Taylor turned his profound grief into action, establishing the Damilola Taylor Trust to combat knife crime and provide opportunities for disadvantaged youth. His efforts have been instrumental in raising awareness about the consequences of violence and the importance of community support. The Trust, under Richard’s guidance, has been a beacon of hope for many. It has offered educational programmes, career workshops and mentorship - all aimed at empowering young people to rise above adversity and achieve their full potential Richard’s work has not only honoured the memory of his son but also provided a pathway for countless others to build a brighter future.
His legacy will be one of courage, compassion and an unwavering commitment to making the world a safer and more inclusive place. Although we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the indelible mark he has left on society. The Damilola Taylor Trust will continue to embody Richard’s vision, ensuring that his fight for a better tomorrow endures. And as with all goodwill causes on our platform, Cashblack promises to match all cashback reward donations from our members to the Damilola Taylor Trust.
